Gary Yarrington
The LBJ Library and Johnson Family Remember Gary Yarrington
Apr 19, 2012
For many, many years Gary Yarrington was the most innovative and ambitious curator in the Presidential Library system. He pioneered changing exhibitions at the Presidential Libraries. Gary started as a contractor at the Truman Library in the early 1960s, and was hired by Mrs. Johnson to work on the LBJ Library and Museum before President Johnson left the White House.
The changing exhibition gallery began at the Johnson Library under Gary Yarrington’s careful and artful skill. Walking through one of his exhibits was a visual delight as well as a thoughtful experience.
Gary was first and foremost a sculptor and he brought his exquisite taste and skill to all the exhibits he created.
Gary’s shining legacy and great spirit will be with us always.
