On Monday, April 27, 2015, Richard Linklater (director) and Ellar Coltrane (lead actor) shared their experiences in the making of the groundbreaking film, Boyhood, with Friends of the LBJ Library members. Shot in Texas and featuring many scenes in Austin, this moving and intimate film follows a boy named Mason, played by Ellar Coltrane, over the course of 12 years. The film not only charts the life of Mason, it also provides snapshots of his relationships with his father, mother, sister, and extended family.

Director Richard Linklater has proven himself through the years to be one of the most innovative, exemplary voices in film. His body of work includes Dazed and Confused, Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Fast Food Nation, Bernie, and Before Midnight. It also includes last year's critically acclaimed masterpiece, Boyhood, which recently won a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture, Drama and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture.
